Christiano Ronaldo is seeing out the twilight of his career at the Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr, but he has not forgotten who his friends are in the commercial world of luxury watches.
He made an appearance at the opening of the largest Jacob & Co. showroom in the world this month, helpfully in his adopted home city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to show support for the brand with which he has produced a small range of ultra-high value timepieces.
Jacob & Co. and its local partner the Salujain Group hosted a dazzling party to celebrate the opening of the 2,370 square foot boutique, which is part of the Akaria Plaza mall, but opens onto Riyadh’s prestigious Olaya Street.
“The Saudi people have a discerning eye for luxury and quality and as we open the doors to our first boutique in Riyadh, we are ready to deliver beyond expectations,” says Jacob Arabo, chairman and founder of Jacob & Co.
Mr Arabo goes on to praise his local partner in Saudi Arabia.
“It takes a special of expertise to understand and explain the unique design of our jewelry, the extremely high quality of the gems we work with and the exhilarating and sophisticated watchmaking we’re now famous for. So the experience Salujain has in high jewellery and watchmaking, and their unique position in the country’s high society is very precious to us in spreading our message, Inspired by the Impossible,” he adds.
Saudi Arabia is a rising star in the luxury watch world. It was the 15th largest market in the world for Swiss watches last year, accounting for exports valued at CHF 345 million in 2022.
