There have been numerous attempts over the years to establish a space for watches at the world famous Harvey Nichols department store in Knightsbridge.
But it has never managed to develop an offer that comes close to rivalling the likes of Selfridges or Harrods, despite its affluent customer base.
Swatch is an unusual alignment with the high fashion brands of Harvey Nichols — Gucci, Saint Laurent, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, to name a few — but the pulling power of MoonSwatch has made an opening attractive to the store.
Swatch has opened on the ground floor of Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge, alongside cosmetics, fragrance, jewellery and designer accessories.
It promises to stock the hottest Swatch watches including the record-breaking Omega X Swatch and Blancpain X Swatch collaborations.
The store opened with a special MoonSwatch with an ostrich-strap in deference to the designer fashion around it.
The watches come in a special boxes that also have that been given that plucked ostrich leather look.
Swatch says this is the first in a series of exclusive collaborations to be stocked in Harvey Nichols, which suggests a fashion-forward roadmap is emerging for the MoonSwatch.
“From classic Swatch styles to best-selling collaborations, including the very latest in fashion forward ranges such as Swatch Neon, Big Bold Irony and the pioneering Bioceramic What If? Collection, there is something to suit every style,” Swatch promises.
