Maurice Lacroix brings back Pontos S Diver for 10th anniversary

Two core collection steel models and one bronze limited edition have been launched, all of which can be worn on a range of interchangeable straps to give a number of looks for on-trend dive watches that retail for under £2,000.

Maurice Lacroix retired the Pontos S Diver in 2016 as it focused its manufacturing and marketing firepower on the bestselling Aikon range.

The watch had been popular since its unveiling in 2013, and retailers gathering in Dubrovnik, Croatia, today were delighted to see it return in the year of its 10th anniversary.

Two core collection steel models and one bronze limited edition have been launched, all of which can be worn on a range of interchangeable straps to give a number of looks for on-trend dive watches that retail for under £2,000.

While that is a tough price point in the squeezed middle of the current economic climate, there is much to admire in the new Pontos S Diver range, not least value for money.

Pontos s diver easy change

The fresh line was created in collaboration with Maurice Lacroix’s Croatian ambassador, Lidija Lijic, who is a multiple world record holder and world champion free diver.

Maurice Lacroix managing director Stéphane Waser says the Pontos S was brought back because customers have been calling for it.

Which explains why very little has changed in the look and functionality of the reissue from the 10-year-old original.

It is a millimetre smaller at 42mm across, and significantly slimmer thanks to losing the helium escape valve that helped make its predecessor resistant to depths of 600 metres.

But architecturally and stylistically it is the same: a nicely legible three-hander with date with an internal diver’s countdown bezel within the case and crystal that is rotated by a second crown at 2 o’clock.

“When developing this latest Pontos S Diver, we were keen to retain the spirit of the first generation model,” Mr Waser says.

There are three variants. Two steel models come with a choice of black grained or white lacquered dial options.

A bronze piece, limited to 500 pieces, has a dark blue grained dial.

All three use an automatic ML115 calibre, based on the Sellita SW200-1, which is protected by a decorated and branded closed steel case back.

They can be worn on a range of interchangeable coloured rubber and fabric straps.

The bronze limited edition has the additional option of a vintage dark blue leather strap.

Steel models are on sale from today for 2,100 euros (around £1,825) with two free straps in the package.

Bronze limited editions are 2,650 euros (around £2,300).
