Marketplace with global ambitions expands into Europe

Following the marketplace’s launch in the UK, Katchin has expanded into Germany and France – with US growth on the cards for next year

Following its successful launch in the UK earlier this year, jewellery and watch marketplace Katchin has announced its expansion into Germany and France this month.

The move solidifies Katchin’s ambitions to become the global destination for jewellery and watch shopping.

Once the platform has successfully expanded across Europe, the marketplace has set its sights on reaching accessories fans on a global scale – with future growth planned in North America in 2024.

With a long history of trend-setting, Europe logs approximately €13b in consumer spending across the jewellery and watch categories.

Capitalising on predicted growth between 5%-7% in this section of the market over the coming year, Katchin will bring its unique style of editorially-led content to the fashion-savvy European audience.

General manager of Katchin, Shelly Gardner said: “Earlier this year, Katchin transformed the online shopping experience by launching the first ever marketplace created specifically for jewellery and watches in the UK.

“Capitalising on the success of our first market launch, I’m excited to formally announce our expansion into Germany and France.

“With this launch, accessory fans across all three countries can rely on Katchin to help them find the accessories that speak to them – no matter their style.”

Katchin offers an entirely new way to shop for accessories, curating products from its global brand list, with editorial content and how-to-style guides all located in one dedicated marketplace.

The platform was built with support from category leader and backing partner, Fossil Group, and leading enterprise marketplace technology company, Mirakl.

Adrien Nussenbaum, co-founder and co-CEO of Mirakl, said: “With marketplaces, retailers have a faster, asset-light approach to expanding into new categories and reaching new markets.

“Fossil Group is at the forefront of this trend with Katchin, bringing the first curated marketplace for jewellery and watches to new audiences in Germany and France – just a couple of months after the initial launch in the UK.

“This is the kind of vision every retailer needs if they want to create the next great ecommerce brand.”

Katchin’s offering features both well-established global brands and up-and-coming names.

In the four months since its inception, Katchin has onboarded global powerhouses – including Roberto Cavalli and Sif Jakobs – adding to the platform’s established list of iconic names, such as Diesel and Issey Miyake.

The jewellery and watch marketplace now offers close to 80 brands to consumers across the UK.

Consumers based in the UK, Germany and France can discover the new accessory shopping experience online, as well as on TikTok and Instagram.
