TAG Heuer holds global movie premiere to promote its 60th anniversary Carreras

The promotional movie, starring Ryan Gosling and Vanessa Bayer, has been created with all the production values of a Hollywood blockbuster.

TAG Heuer hosted the worldwide premiere of its promotional movie The Chase for Carrera in London tonight with its star and brand ambassador Ryan Gosling on the red carpet.

The Chase for Carrera was produced ahead of the launch at Watches and Wonders of 60th anniversary editions of the sporty chronograph.

The promotional movie, created with all the production values of a Hollywood blockbuster, was produced and directed by David Leitch, and takes the form of an action-packed comic caper set ‘backstage’ at a Los Angeles studio.

The premiere in London also had the look and feel of a big screen launch, with a host of stars, many of them friends of TAG Heuer, treading the red carpet including Patrick Dempsey, Christian and Geri Horner, Tommy Fleetwood, Greg James, Poppy Delevingne and Kit Connor.

The Chase for Carrera includes a cameo by its director David Leitch and features comedian Vanessa Bayer alongside Ryan Gosling.

It includes six almost subliminal references to the 60 year history of TAG Heuer’s Carrera that true aficionados may notice including significant names, notable numbers, and a glimpse of another iconic figure.

TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault, who hosted the London premiere says: “TAG Heuer has always had a close connection to Hollywood, with our timepieces worn on the wrists of silver screen legends across the decades, from Steve McQueen to our very own Ryan Gosling. And the Carrera has always been more than just a timepiece – born from the racetrack, it’s a statement of daring and adventure as much as it is the epitome of elegance. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate its 60 years that than with this world-first: a mini Hollywood blockbuster collaborating with the best action-movie director in the world in David Leitch, responsible for such instant classics as John Wick and Bullet Train, and starring Ryan Gosling, not only the A-list icon of his age, but someone who always brings the utmost dedication and creativity to every project he embarks on, and that couldn’t be more true here. Here’s to the next 60.”

Ryan Gosling adds: “This is the first time I have done a commercial with a luxury house that is so out of the box, so funny, so untraditional – and the first one that felt like shooting a blockbuster! It was a joy to team up with David Leitch to shoot this while we were also shooting our feature, The Fall Guy, in Australia. But also to work with Vanessa Bayer again, having had the pleasure of working with her on Saturday Night Live. She is a unique comic talent and that shines through here. The Carrera has been an internationally-famous icon for 60 years now, so it felt only right that should be commemorated with a silver-screen celebration like this.”
