Launching on – when else? – May 4, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, Fossil has announced a Star Wars x Fossil collection of watches and jewellery.
Paying homage to the Rebellion’s great figures and emblems, Melissa Lowenkron, Fossil’s Chief Brand Officer says: ” We’re thrilled to share this special collection celebrating a story that has made such a cultural impact on generations and that, like Fossil, evokes a feeling of nostalgia for so many.
“Made for fans by fans – we’re excited for people to discover the intricate details inspired by the film and to collect their favourite pieces from this exceptional collaboration.”
Six limited-edition watches from the Star Wars x Fossil collection will pay tribute to the most adored characters from the movie. Each individually numbered watch comes with a collector’s box that has a replica movie ticket pin and comic book style images, as well as defining character characteristics like:
Luke Skywalker (£269)
This watch’s dial depicts the conflict between the light and dark aspects of the Force, replete with Luke’s brilliant green lume LightsberTM second hand and invisibly flashing blue lume Force lightning.
Leia Organa (£269)
This model is inspired by Leia’s distinctive EndorTM appearance and comes with a revolutionary time-telling mechanism. It also has an etched braid caseback detail and an invisible lume Rebellion sign that glows in the dark.
Han Solo (£269)
The rich leather saddle strap with golden yellow trouser stripe detail and corresponding accents on the dial give this redesigned Fossil Heritage watch an effortlessly laid-back vibe.
Chewbacca (£269)
This watch is reminiscent of Chewie’sTM distinctive bandolier with its debossed fur texture on the dial and rivet embellishments on the strap.
R2-D2 (£379)
This clock features a day/night indicator with a lume-filled Rebel symbol, a minute hand shaped like the droid’s repair tool arm, a Japanese automatic movement, and a dimensional R2-D2TM inspired frame.
C-3PO (£379)
The favourite robot comes to life on this square-shaped case that features a gold-tone C-3PO face-inspired frame, an exposed automatic movement, a silver-tone lug that matches C-3PO’s silver leg, and a caseback design that was inspired by etched droid wiring.
For £159, Star Wars x Fossil is also offering five special edition watches with comic book style graphic dials, silicone straps, and vintage tins in addition to the limited edition watch collection.
A limited-edition Star Wars x Fossil jewellery line, means that fans of the movies can feel the Force even more. Pieces feature designs Yoda, R2-D2, and C-3PO, as well as iconography in semi-3D forms and distinctive craftsmanship.
Hoop earrings (£55), a gold-tone charm necklace (£85), charm bracelet (£119), and earring stud set (£85). There are also two ID plaque necklaces (£75) that are inspired by the popular droids.
If it weren’t for the rebel alliance logo I would have said the Leia Organa is the most Vader looking watch you could design. Definitely missed the mark there.
