Return of the King Seiko KSK

Champagne coloured KSK watch comes in a more angular case than the regular King Seiko.

Seiko is continuing to expand its King Seiko line with new colours and fresh pieces in the more angular case style of the KSK versions produced from 1965 onwards.

Following the first reissue of the 1960s classical King Seiko timepiece in 2020, Seiko has been adding different colourways, including brown, red and silver dialed models earlier this year.

Next month fans of the King Seiko will have two more options.

First is a recreation of the King Seiko KSK, a watch added to the King line in 1965 in a sharper, more angular case.

The 2022 version is a perfect facsimile in almost every visible detail except for the original’s silver-colored dial replaced with a champagne hue with gold colour hands and hour markers.

It has departed from the original with its movement.

Rather than a hand wound watch, the new piece is an automatic powered by the slim Caliber 6L35.

This new stainless steel 38.1mm King Seiko KSK goes on sale in July as a limited edition of 1,700 at selected Seiko boutiques and retail partners worldwide priced at £2,830.

A second reference launching in July is a second colourway for the KSK, this time in a pale purple piece in a smaller 37mm steel case.

The purple comes from a stunning display of wisteria that appears every spring around Seiko’s Tokyo manufacture.

It is a boutique-only watch retailing for £1,590.
