William Wood honours The Bravest with fire department fundraising watch

Only 250 of The Bravest Watch will be made. Each watch contains a piece of a 1920s British brass firefighter’s helmet.

William Wood Watches has made a limited edition timepiece it calls The Bravest Watch in honor of the men women of the New York Fire Department (FDNY).

The British watchmaker will donate 15% of the price from each sale.

William Wood Watches was founded in 2016 by Jonny Garrett, the grandson of the late William Wood, a decorated firefighter who served in the British Fire Service for over 25 years.

The brand has become best known for making  watches using upcycled material salvaged from firefighting equipment.

The Bravest Watch will raise money for the FDNY Foundation which will support key initiatives such as fire and life safety education, fire and EMS training programs and equipment needs for FDNY heroes.

“This is another special collaboration that will directly support the firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and officers of the FDNY. These men and women put their lives on the line to protect the residents and visitors of New York City. We are proud to work with partners like William Wood Watches that appreciate and respect the dangers FDNY members face each day,” says Stephen Ruzow, chairman of the FDNY Foundation.

William Wood’s Mr Garrett adds: “I’m proud to be working with the FDNY Foundation on this incredible collaboration watch, honoring the men and women of the New York Fire Department. To see my grandfather’s name on the dial of The Bravest Watch which is stocked in the Fire Zone Learning Center at Rockefeller Centre is a special moment and one that my grandfather, William Wood, would be very proud of.”

Only 250 of The Bravest Watch will be made. Each watch contains a piece of a 1920s British brass firefighter’s helmet.

The steel watch is priced at £800 and can be pre-ordered now from the William Wood website for delivery in September.
