It is a wonder designers at Grand Seiko’s get any work done, what with the hours they must spend gazing out of the windows from their Shizukuishi studio.
Fresh from launching two hi-beat watches inspired by spring’s blossoms and green shoots, the artists have got in extra early to witness the bright red sunrise over Mount Iwate and project it onto a textured sunray dial of an oversized automatic.
The SBGH345G, part of the brand’s Heritage Collection, comes in a hefty 44GS-style 44.5mm x 14.3mm steel case with Grand Seiko’s famously precise finishing used in brushed and polished surfaces that carry into its bracelet.
It is powered by an in-house 9S85 mechanical hi-beat movement which vibrates 36,000 times an hour, is accurate to +5 / –3 seconds a day and has a power reserve of 55 hours.
The watch is not limited, but Grand Seiko is selling it exclusively via its online boutique for £6,500.
Orders can be placed now for delivery in March.
