Nite Watches releases its first Swiss-made automatic

Nite says the Atlas stands on the shoulders of the MX10, Nite’s classic field watch once supplied as standard issue to UK Special Forces.

Twenty years on from Nite Watches embarking on its mission to provide watches to support amazing individuals, it presents the Atlas – its first ever Swiss-made automatic.

Available exclusively online at nitewatches.com from May 1st, the Atlas is the culmination of research and development proven through the passion and drive of Nite’s tight-knit family.

Nite says the Atlas stands on the shoulders of the MX10, Nite’s classic field watch once supplied as standard issue to UK Special Forces.

This evolution in design is everything you expect and need from a Nite Watch: toughness, timekeeping, and Tritium (Nite’s world-class illumination technology).

The brushed steel case brings the style while the streamlined design and flush wrist positioning provides the comfort, while remaining true to the brand heritage.

Made in Switzerland by Roventa Henex SA, it is housed in a traditional 316L brushed steel case with the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement.

The hands are dual colour mountain cut with our signature tritium illumination and the Atlas is available in five different dial colourways (Night Black, Desert Black, Stone Grey, Navy Blue, Forest Green).

The Atlas is proud to share its DNA with the first “Dirty Dozen” field watches worn during World War II.

The name was given to designs from twelve companies, commissioned by the Ministry of Defence, for a new kind of wristwatch able to perform in the field under the most extreme pressures. Strict performance specifications included waterproofing, timekeeping, luminous markings on the dial and robust case construction.

The Atlas has been designed and engineered to meet the same strict criteria and reflect the style and needs of the mavericks who put it to the test today.

Commenting on the launch, Roger Green, Founder and Owner of the brand, said: “Twenty years ago when I founded NITE Watches, we became the first British brand to pioneer Swiss-made GTLS (Gaseous tritium light sources) as a means of dial illumination.

“To celebrate our twentieth anniversary, we are taking the lead again – working closely with our movement manufacturers to become the first British watch brand to create a Swiss-made automatic field watch with this highly specialised illumination technology.

I am proud to announce the Atlas, our much-anticipated and beautifully crafted, Swiss-made automatic field watch built for wearing in the great outdoors.”
