IWC’s Big Pilot watches made from hi-tech Ceratanium have been one of the breakthrough hits of 2022, but online retailer Mr Porter has gone for a more old school material, bronze, for a limited edition collaboration piece that goes on sale today.
The watch is also a little smaller than the Ceratanium collection — 43mm rather than 44mm.
Mr Porter is now free to operate independently from IWC’s parent company Richemont, and still has the connections to secure this 500-piece limited edition with its black dial, gold-plated hands and a case and crown made from bronze, which will darken and develop a patina over time.
Each is individually numbered and engraved with ‘MR PORTER EDITION 1’ on the case back.
It is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82100 automatic three-hand movement.
Worn on a black microfiber strap, the watch retails for £9,150.
