Breguet is continuing to shine a light on the intersection of contemporary art and horology by extending its partnership with Frieze events in Paris, New York, London, Los Angeles and Seoul.
The watchmaker is currently introducing art lovers to its creations and traditions at a presentation in Regent’s Park as part of Frieze London,
Frieze, which is marking its 20th anniversary in London this year, is already underway and runs until October 15.
Breguet’s presentation is called Resisting Time, and “explores the possibilities of time as a resistance to the conventions, customs and hierarchies that dominate our daily lives, and the ways artists continue to expand time keeping practices,” the watchmaker says.
The exhibition’s curator, Somi Sim, will create four different displays at Frieze events throughout the next year, and visited the Breguet factory and museum for inspiration and ideas on how to combine horology and art.
After London, Breguet heads to Frieze New York where its exhibit will be named Orbital Time, and will present works by international artists, including a bespoke installation by the Raqs Media Collective, that will challenge notions of standardised time.
“Reflecting on the art of watchmaking and Breguet’s technical innovations, the presentation will frame horology as a landscape for exploration,” Ms Sim says.
