Bremont’s latest WR-45 chronograph will be made in a limited run of 244 pieces, a reference to the number of podium finishes the team has achieved, according to the brand’s press release.
New fans to Formula 1, perhaps the Netflix Drive to Survive intake, might find that figure surprisingly high given the team’s recent struggles.
More seasoned observers may think it on the low side since it has finished in the top three 313 times, according to GP Racing Stats.
Whatever. Bremont’s new CEO, David Cerrato, simply wants to draw attention to the synergy between the world’s apex form of motor sport and mechanical watchmaking.
“The technological crossover between Formula 1 and precision watchmaking is substantial and the compelling collaboration between Bremont and Williams Racing has really taken the brand’s Motorsport Collection to a new level. It’s wonderful to see so much energy and interest in the sport today and we’re delighted to be part of its rich history,” he says.
Bremont’s new 43mm chronograph uses the company’s 3-piece Trip-Tick case construction in steel with black treatment.
The black is carried into the dial, which picks up the Williams Racing team colours with white indexes and sub dials with flashes of electric blue.
The team’s colour also comes out at night thanks to blue emission lume-filled indexes, minute and hour hands along with a triangular 12 hour marker.
It has a red central chronograph hand, a tribute to the racing red seconds hand often found on early 20th century rally timers.
Under the hood is modified BE-50AE automatic chronograph movement, based on the Valjoux 7750, which has a blackened rotor carrying the Williams Racing logo.
The watch, worn on a black Alcantara strap, a material traditionally used on old steering wheels, is sold with a certified original wheel nut from a historic Williams Racing car.
It is on sale now for £5,795.
