This Farewell to the Beloved Swiss-made 53mm pocket watch, circa 1830, was made for the Chinese market by Genevan watchmakers Frères Oltramare.
It is a beautifully enamelled musical repeating pocket watch set with white pearls. It has blued serpentine steel hands and a musical movement activated by a bolt at six o’clock. It can be set to play on the hour or at will when the bolt is pressed.
It was part of Antiquorum’s January sale of Important & Vintage Timepieces in Hong Kong and sold for HKD 524,000 (£44,734) including the buyers’ premium.
