Tissot’s smart and solar-powered T-Touch Connect Sport

Tissot unveils its latest watch, the solar-powered T-Touch Connect Sport with multi functions.

Last week, in the picturesque town of Le Locle, Switzerland, Tissot unveiled its latest watch the T-Touch Connect Sport, with a campaign that encapsulates the essence of life’s athletic adventures and the myriad paths it offers.

The T-Touch Connect Sport is a testament to the brand’s enduring commitment to blending style and functionality.

In continuation of Tissot’s rich legacy and drawing inspiration from the success of the T-Touch Connect Solar, the new unisex, Swiss Made sports watch is made for active individuals who prioritise well-being but also want a genuine timepiece over a simple step counter.

Driven by quartz and energized by the sun, the 43mm T-Touch Connect Sport uses the power of high-performance solar cells on the watch dial.

It then stores energy in an accumulator, ensuring months of uninterrupted operation without requiring a recharge.

The watch also boasts a tactile sapphire glass with an AMOLED screen, responsive to both direct touch and side pushers, delivering a versatile interactive experience.

Available in an array of bezel and case colours, the T-Touch Connect Sport embodies the spirit of an active lifestyle.

The use of materials such as ceramic and titanium, coupled with sophisticated brushed and polished finishes, elevates its aesthetic appeal without compromising on durability.

At the core of the T-Touch Connect Sport is a focus on functionality and performance, tailored to meet the needs of modern, health-conscious, and sporty individuals. From tracking workouts to receiving notifications, the watch prioritises well-being and connectivity.

As time progresses, both the accompanying app and the watch itself will receive updates, introducing enhanced features and new functionalities. The T-Touch Connect Sport is not just a timepiece; it’s a companion for those who embrace an active and well-balanced lifestyle.

The new watch is the culmination of years of development, integrating solar cells and Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship to create a watch that caters to both the sports enthusiasts and watch lovers.

Featuring real watch hands, sporty functionality and impressive autonomy – the precision of its design ensuring that it can run for months – the timepiece allows you to keep accurate time and stay in touch with your fitness goals.

The heart of this watch’s innovation lies in its photovoltaic cell, crafted with materials including glass, silicon, zinc oxide, aluminium, silver and resin. Each solar cell provides energy equivalent to five button batteries.

Manufactured by Nivarox-FAR, a Swatch Group company, these photovoltaic cells excel in low-light conditions, setting a new standard in Swiss watchmaking.

The production process begins with a glass wafer coated with thin films, including a transparent front contact, a thin-film silicon diode, and a metallic back contact.

Laser patterning etches the solar cell design into the silicon, followed by screen printing for the collection grid and protective layers. Techniques like drilling and laser dicing ensure the solar cell’s durability, with each cell meticulously checked for performance across various lighting conditions.

The T-Touch Connect Sport also offers style versatility with an interchangeable quick-release strap system, providing options of a titanium bracelet or silicon strap.

The price for the new watch starts at £950 for the version on black and beige rubber PVD strap, rising to £1,010 for blue, orange and white rubber strap and £1050 for the bracelet model.
