TAG Heuer is sticking with quartz movements for its 2019 Aquaracer watches for ladies.
The decision is more noteworthy than it at first appears, because there is a strong trend towards women wearing larger mechanical watches rather than accepting smaller, battery powered, versions of watches made for men.
Admittedly, TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer for men also comes with the option of a quartz movement, but its automatic 43mm automatic is as likely to be bought by women today as a 27mm ladies quartz piece.
The 2019 ladies models are larger at 35mm and come with a blue sunray dial with an engraved wave pattern.
They are sold on either a stainless steel bracelet for £1,250 or blue rubber strap for £1,200.
A third model has a mother-of-pearl dial and is also presented on a blue rubber strap for £1,200.
They all have a diver’s unidirectional rotating bezel, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, water resistance to 300 m, luminescent hands and markers, and a double security clasp on the bracelet or strap.
