TAG Heuer shifts Connected smartwatches to latest Google platform

TAG Heuer says the update offers significant upgrades and improvements including better connectivity, a redesigned TAG Heuer user interface, smoother user experience and major updates on apps.

Google’s Wear OS 3.5 was described at its release in the Fall of last year as the biggest update for Android-based smartwatches yet by TechRadar thanks to its faster app load times, fitness tracking powered by Fitbit’s technology, a redesigned interface, and more.

Despite the improvements, it was not immediately embraced by smartwatch makers, with only the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Montblanc Summit 3 adopting it in time for its public launch in 2022.

We can now add TAG Heuer to that list, with the business using the new operating system for all of its Connected Calibre E4 watches.

TAG Heuer says the update offers significant upgrades and improvements including better connectivity, a redesigned TAG Heuer user interface, smoother user experience and major updates on apps.

Some new features will be exclusive to Wear OS 3 such as the TAG Heuer Golf Full Shot Tracking, which will be available on March 27.

“As TAG Heuer, we strive to deliver the most exciting premium Connected Watch and this by simplifying the experience for our users and by providing the most premium and intuitive interface. This new software update is a major step towards that direction,” says Teddy Florent, TAG Heuer’s managing director for Connected.
