Seiko steps on the gas with new ‘Speedometer’ series

Latest timepiece inspired by the classic 1960s Mediterranean blue automobiles, which were the height of fashion when the Speedtimer was first created

Seiko has unveiled its brand new Prospex ‘Speedometer’ Solar Speedtimer chronograph European exclusive limited edition.

Exclusively available in Europe including the UK, the Prospex Speedometer Speedtimer is inspired by the classic 1960s Mediterranean blue automobiles, which were the height of fashion when the Speedtimer was first created.

There are several features on the watch inspired by this key time in Seiko history, when road trips and car journeys were glamorous – the dial itself has a retro-style matte finish, whilst the orange accent colouring takes its looks from an automobile’s Speedometer.

The accompanying brown punched leather strap option is designed to fit the classic car aesthetic, resembling the vintage steering wheel.

From the Speedtimer collection, this ‘Speedometer’ timepiece has chronograph functionality, allowing the user to accurately measure elapsed time with its V192 solar calibre movement, accurate to +/- 15 seconds per month.

It comes in a limited edition box, with its limited edition number engraved on the case back.

The series is limited to 3,000 pieces and will retail for £650.
