When the first Seiko boutique opened in London’s Knightsbridge in 2017, it was a statement that the Japanese giant was pushing upmarket with its Prospex sports watches nudging up to and beyond £1000 price tags.
The move late last year to New Bond Street, where Seiko is positioned upstairs from Grand Seiko on the ground floor is further evidence of the more luxurious intentions of the brand.
Seiko is appearing at this year’s WatchPro Salon in November with a range of the latest premium Prospex collections, including the stunning new GMT (pictured above in the New Bond Street showroom).
The GMT is a re-interpretation of a 1968 Diver’s watch and is inspired by Japan’s first hi-beat one-piece Diver’s watch created by Seiko.
It is the first time Seiko has made a mechanical automatic dive watch with a second time zone hand. The 42mm steel watch, water resistant to 200 metres, is powered by a new in-house Calibre 6R54, which has a three day power reserve.
It is on sale today for £1,400.

Seiko will be among a line up of over 50 prestigious watch brands exhibiting at this year’s WatchPro Salon, which takes place at The Londoner Hotel on Leicester Square from November 10 to 11.
