When Seiko first introduced the Presage Style 60s range in 2021, it was with a watch that paid tribute to the legendary 1964 Crown Chronograph – Japan’s first chronograph and a watch that marked a turning point in the brand’s history.
Today sees the launch of the newest watch in the range, the Presage Style 60s Road Trip GMT. As the name suggests, this year’s line-up has a “road trip” theme, inspired by classic 1960s cars.
The concept maintains the vintage feel of the first collection, with the watch drawing design cues from the wheels, levers, gadgets, and hues of well-known automobiles.
The ethos behind Seiko Presage is to offer precise Japanese mechanical timekeeping combined with timeless elegance. The pieces, therefore, all share a distinctly Japanese-inspired minimalist design.
In keeping with all models in the Style 60s collection, the case design is a mixture of soft corners and harder angles that is true to the spirit of the original, with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces.Â
The watch has a mechanical 4R24 calibre movement with a GMT function that enables the wearer to track different time zones. The creative display mimics the historical accents found on the original Seiko chronograph from 1964.
There are three colourways – Petrol Blue, Stone and Fume grey with hairline finishing that adds to the piece’s mechanical appearance.
The Presage Style 60s Road Trip GMT, priced at £580, will be available from May at seikoboutique.co.uk.
