Rolex completes tennis ‘grand slam’ with French Open sponsorship

Rolex’s new sponsorship of the French Open will involve extensive branding during the tournament, as well as its own hospitality area.

Swiss luxury watch brand Rolex has completed its own tennis ‘Grand Slam’ by becoming the Official Timekeeper of the French Open at Roland-Garros.

Already a long-time sponsor of Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the US Open, Rolex is now a partner with all four of tennis’ ‘majors’.

As well as the tournaments, Rolex also has close commercial associations with key players, most famously Roger Federer, but also Justin Henin, Björn Borg and Ana Ivanović.

Rolex’s new sponsorship of the French Open will involve extensive branding during the tournament, as well as its own hospitality area.

Bernard Giudicelli, president of the French Tennis Federation: “Our association with this prestigious company, which is already a partner of the Rolex Paris Masters, will take on a whole new dimension in 2019 by putting down roots in the heart of our illustrious competition in the Porte d’Auteuil.”

Meanwhile, Rolex’s communication & image director, Arnaud Boetsch, said: “By becoming the Official Timekeeper of Roland-Garros, the tennis season’s major clay tournament, Rolex has definitively strengthened its ties with international tennis. It is an honour and a pleasure for the brand to join forces with this prestigious Grand Slam tournament which, every year, writes another page in the history of tennis.”
