Journalists and brand executives are stranded in 5-star luxury in the hotels neighbouring the Dubai International Financial Centre, watching the skies like a crowd at Lord’s wondering if there would be any cricket that day.
Roads are flooded across the city, with cars abandoned on many of the major arteries.
The rain cleared to sunshine and 30C temperatures by the afternoon, allowing the event to restart by 2pm.
