Armin Strom used Dubai Watch Week to introduce what is described as its purest creation: the Tribute 1 with four colours of fumé dials, each limited to 10 pieces.
The watches have manufacture manual-winding movements with a large barrel that is used as a decorative element on the dials.
Time is displayed in hours, minutes and seconds on off-centre dials in ocean, slate, sky and burgundy colours set into anthracite guilloché plates that are handcrafted by one of Kari Voutilainen’s companies.
“The Tribute 1 is a twist on the classic dress watch – literally. From its slender 38 mm steel case with the crown unusually positioned at 2 o’clock, to the off-centred small dial displaying the hours, minutes and seconds, there’s harmony in its asymmetry,” says Armin Strom co-founder and master watchmaker Claude Greisler.
“Like all Armin Strom creations, there’s something mechanical and quite ingenious to be admired from the dial side,” he adds.
The AMW21 movement’s mainspring barrel takes just-off-centre stage on the dial as it slowly unwinds under a prominent bridge over 100 hours.
The watches come in modern 38mm stainless steel cases, standing less than a centrimetre tall, with exhibition case backs displaying the hand-finishing of the hand-wound movements.
They are on sale for £19,700.
