With the 2024 Americas Cup fast approaching Omega is marking its ongoing partnership with defending champions Emirates Team New Zealand with a Seamaster Planet Ocean in the team’s colours of turquoise and black.
The Deep Black ETNZ Edition arrives a year ahead of the apex sailing race, which is taking place in Barcelona, Spain.
“Much like our friends from Emirates Team New Zealand, a year races by fast so the time is right to show our true colours. Our race-ready watch looks as good as it performs and is a fitting tribute to the talented crew and the country they represent,” says Omega’s president and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann.
The oversized 45.5mm Seamaster Planet Ocean has a black ceramic case and brushed black ceramic bezel with a white enamel diving scale topped by a triangle-framed dot at 12 filled with white Super-LumiNova that glows green in the dark.
It has a matt black ceramic dial with a 15 minute countdown sub dial that is crucial in the starting of a sailing race.
Details of the dial are picked out in turquoise, including a seconds hand that has a depiction of the America’s Cup trophy as a counterweight.
The watch is powered by Omega’s Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, which is protected to a depth of 2,000 feet by a closed case back carrying the Emirates Team New Zealand logo.
Orders are being taken now for the watch, which is priced at £12,600.
