Michael Spiers is investing £1 million into moving its Plymouth showroom to a prime location at 2 Cornwall Street.
The store will be located in the historic Methodist Central Hall building in a unit that has latterly been a popular coffee shop.
It faces directly out onto the Drake Circus shopping centre and the busy Marks & Spencer Foodhall.
“We are delighted to announce that we are going to have a brand new, luxury showroom, located right in the heart of Plymouth city centre,” the company says.
Rolex, OMEGA, Breitling and TUDOR will all have branded areas in the new showroom.
“Our current showroom is filled with lots of happy memories and has seen our Michael Spiers family grow and flourish into what it is today, so will always hold a special place in our hearts. But don’t worry, we are still here for you, you will still be able to find us in No. 52-54 Cornwall Street until No. 2 is complete,” a company statement continues.
Michael Spiers has not announced an exact opening date for the new store, but a spokesperson told WATCHPRO it would likely be in the first quarter of next year.
It appears that the opportunity to move to such a prime location came as a result of the pandemic pushing the coffee shop Americano to close.
The café initially said it had been closed for renovation, according to local newspaper reports, but did not reopen when covid restrictions eased and Michael Spiers swooped.
