Washi paper has long been used in shoji sliding screens in Japan to bring natural light into living spaces, making it the ideal material for light-powered Eco-Drive watches.

Gold leaf decoration uses a technique called sunago-maki where an artist places flakes of gold or silver leaf into a bamboo tube and then sprinkles them onto paper to create the effect

The watch comes in a 38.3mm gold-treated titanium case with golden hands and hour markers housing a quartz-based movement that stays accurate to within +/-5 seconds for a year.

It goes on sale in September for £2995 / $3800.
