Portuguese footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo is beginning the autumn of his career with a lucrative spell in Saudi Arabia playing for Al-Nassr and adding his profile to a massive publicity campaign positioning the Kingdom as a nation capable of hosting the FIFA World Cup.
And what better way to celebrate the move than with a watch reportedly worth £600,000 in the green colour of the Saudi Arabian flag.
Jacob & Co., which partnered with Mr Ronaldo last year on a range of four watches named the Jacob & Co x CR7 Epic X collection, made the tsarovite garnet-encrusted watch and shared a picture of the striker on a private jet wearing it.
Tsavorite is said to be 200 times more rare than emerald and is what gives Ronaldo’s Saudi-themed watch its distinctive sparkle.
Jacob and Co lists the Caviar Tourbillon Tsavorites watch on its website, saying the timepiece has 388 baguette-cut tsavorites, which can take up to three years to find and apply.
It also has diamonds, white gold and an alligator leather strap.
Jacob & Co’s first collection made in collaboration with Mr Ronaldo is still being promoted on the watchmaker’s website.
The most affordable of the four watches, Heart of CR7 in steel, can be bought for £27,500.
The most expensive Flight of CR7 in Rose Gold Case with Baguette Diamonds costs £141,500.
Those watches are unlikely to be the last from the partnership between Mr Ronaldo and Jacob & Co.
At the time of their launch, the footballer told his 501 million followers on Instagram they were only a start: “I’m excited to announce my partnership with @jacobandco, one of the leading watch brands in the world. Today, we reveal our first watch collection that I co-designed with my dear friend @jacobarabo,” he said.
