Francis Ford Coppola makes guest appearance on The Accutron Show podcast

Learn how Accutron helped moviemakers in the 1970s keep to time.

Accutron is continuing its podcast series, The Accutron Show, with legendary Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola featuring in today’s drop.

The Accutron Show Podcast is available on Apple Music, Spotify, Stitcher and YouTube where you can find back issues featuring guests including Todd Snyder, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Isaac Mizrahi, Katie Couric, Carol Alt, Daniel Boulud and Zara Rutherford.

Francis Ford Coppola talks about his new movie, Megalopolis, which focuses on an architect who wants to rebuild New York City as a utopia following a devastating disaster.

He expands on the plot of the film to talk about his view on how the world should be shaped in the future.

There is also a segment where the director shares his memory of working with Accutron timekeepers during his early career.

“Did you know that the Accutron watch was responsible for wireless sync sound in movies? In the past they used to have the camera and the sound unit connected by a wire. A filmmaker had the idea that instead of having audio and video connected with a wire, if each one would get its pulse from an Accutron watch then they would be in sync,” he describes.

Tune into The Accutron Show to hear how Francis Ford Coppola shaped the movie industry through his critically acclaimed The Godfather series, which earned him consecutive Academy Awards for Best Director, and his cult classic Apocalypse Now.
