EPHJ 2023 Grand Prix goes to MPS Watch

MPS Watch has won EPHJ’s 2023 Grand Prix with its Oscrew system for oscillating weights.

Unveiled for the first time at the 2023 EPHJ show, the Oscrew is a system for attaching oscillating weights to bearings.

“Oscrew is designed for rotors with a streamlined design that can be dismantled without additional components,” explains MPS Watch’s Pierre-Jean Bonnet. “It therefore offers a number of innovative advantages.”

The Oscrew system is aesthetically similar to the crimping method of fixing the bearing to the oscillating weight, but it can be dismantled and requires no additional components.

“We wanted to create an oscillating weight that nobody else has,” says Frédéric Chautems, director of MPS Watch.

The system went through intense testing, being subjected to vibrations, repeated shocks and shocks of 5,000g

Laboratory tests demonstrated the reliability of this solution. Rotors were subjected to vibrations, repeated shocks and shocks of 5000g, meaning that it can be used for all types of product.

MPS develops and produces ball bearings, movement components and oscillating weights, and claims to have invented the watchmaking ball bearing in 1947.
