DOXA Army watch returns to duty

DOXA first brought back its revered Army timepiece as a 100-piece ceramic limited edition made for Watches of Switzerland in April.

This week, at Geneva Watch Days, it added three versions of the watch to its core collection in steel.

There is one model in steel with a steel bezel, one with a black ceramic insert and a third with a bronze and green ceramic bezel.

Doxa already had a number of military contracts for its dive watches in the 1960s when it added the Army tool watch in 1968 to it catalog.

Marketed as The ideal watch for military divers,” it was instantly recognizable for its black case, black bezel with black insert and sandbeige dial, and adopted by  Swiss Army divers.

The three models introduced today have the familiar sand colored dial framed by the different bezel options.

They come in a 42.5mm cases machined from a single block of steel with a closed case back.

The construction protects the watch’s ETA 2824 movement to the pro-diver depth of 300 meters.

The full steel piece retails for $2,090 and the ceramic bezel takes the price to $2,250 on a rubber strap or $2,290 on the bracelet.
