It is a year since the investors behind collectible pre-owned watch specialist WatchBox acquired a controlling stake in De Bethune, and it has been steady as she goes since then as the independent watchmaker builds a little more production capacity while concentrating on incremental additions to its winning watches.
Independently, WatchBox has amassed a collection of no fewer than 33 De Bethune watches, ranging in price from under $72,000 to $285,000 and a total retail value of around $5 million.
A new version of the DB25 Perpetual Calendar will be next on the wish list of many WatchBox collectors.
Revealed on day one of Geneva Watch Days, the DB25sQPATIS1 is a classic interpretation of the DB25 in a 40mm polished titanium case.
It has a bi-colour silver and blue dial with a 12-sector radiating guilloché pattern.
The top of the dial is dominated by a spherical moonphase with a star-studded night sky made from blued titanium with inlaid with rose gold stars and a leap year indication.
The watch shows the month at 3 o’clock, date at 6 o’clock and the day of the week at 9 o’clock.
The grand complication watch is driven by a De Bethune in house, twin barrelled, DB2324V2 automatic movement with five day power reserve, which is on show through a crystal case back.
