BRITISH WATCHMAKERS’ DAY: Brooklands Watch Company brings a touch of design genius to BWD

A unique chance to own one of three limited-edition, Sir Terence Conran-designed wristwatches courtesy of Brooklands Watch Company on March 9.

Embedded in the core philosophy of Brooklands Watch Company is the guiding principle, “Time is Life. Measure it Well”.

This has shaped the company’s approach to British Watchmakers’ Day, marking a pivotal moment for the British watch sector. Founder Simon Jeffs reflects on the significance, stating, “We pondered on what this moment means for Brooklands and how we can uniquely measure it”.

The outcome is an exclusive series of three limited-edition Triple-Four Racing Chronograph watches. Originally crafted with a 43mm bezel by Sir Terence Conran, the watch pays homage to Brooklands race track timekeeper’s watches with bi-compax subdials.

For the special edition, it undergoes a stylish transformation with a distinctly British royal blue dial and unique caseback ring markings.

The watches are presented in a beautiful Conran blue velvet-lined leather watch case inspired by vintage motoring cases and are accompanied by a British Watchmakers’ Day 2024 brass warranty card and members badge that entitles the Triple-Four owners to a drive at Brooklands in a specially commissioned Brooklands Watch Company electric Bugatti Baby II car.

All proceeds from these limited editions will be donated to the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers. Jeffs acknowledges the Alliance’s valuable support, describing it as a respected voice driving excellence and growth in the British watch and clock making industry. The Triple-Four Racing Chronograph for British Watchmakers’ Day 2024 serves as Brooklands’ contribution to the Alliance, offering a unique piece for event attendees.

To acquire this special edition, Brooklands will adopt a closed bid auction at their stand on March 9. Collectors and visitors can submit sealed bids, with a reserve price set at ÂŁ5,754.

The three highest bids at the end of the event secure these exclusive timepieces, requiring a ÂŁ1,000 deposit on the day, with delivery scheduled for six months later. This distinctive initiative underscores Brooklands’ commitment to the industry’s growth and celebrates the historical significance of BWD.
