For the first time in its history, Braun has announced a range of Swiss-made watches today that will be rolled out over the coming eight months.
In total there will be eight automatic timepieces, which will all be produced in limited, individually numbered, runs.
Once sold, they will never be produced again.
Designs have not deviated far from the Braun signature style and continue to follow the 10 design principles established by Dieter Rams during his time at Braun.
Mr Rams’ philosophy was not limited to design, it also focused on value for money along with functionality, quality, and simple aesthetics that are built to last and sustainable.
Today we see the first release, a limited edition three-hand automatic with date using ETA 2892A2 movements exposed with a crystal case back.
For the first time, Braun has placed ‘Swiss Made’ on the dial.
They are being made in either matt stainless steel or matt black case finishes, limited to only 150 pieces of each.
The 40mm watches are retailing for £750.
Even if I were to design a BRAUN watch, that’s very nearly exactly what the result would be, visually. Beautiful in its stark iteration…. The simplicity is the completeness of it.
Braun was German now Swiss ?
The Braun brand is owned by Procter & Gamble but watch and clock manufacturing for the Braun brand is licensed to the Hong Kong-owned British company Zeon Ltd.
Most Zeon/Braun watches are made in Hong Kong as far as I know but they have opted to have these ones made in Switzerland.
