A Collected Man partners with Baltic on £500 limited edition

A Collected Man, which specialises in buying and selling ultra-rare watches from independent artisans, has worked with Baltic Creative Director Jas Rewkiewicz to create a limited edition MR01 Blue Roulette timepiece.

The watch officially goes on sale on September 21, but people can put their name down for it on A Collected Man website from today.

Baltic is a keen horological historian draws inspiration from classic timepieces from the last century.

The MR01 Blue Roulette is particularly influenced by mid-20th century dress watches from Patek Philippe, particularly its Calatrava reference 96.

It may have illustrious ancestry, but the collaboration Baltic watch is enticingly affordable at just £500.

“A lot of modern watches have very flat dials. We were inspired by the old, multi-layered sector dials that play with different textures. These seem to be having a bit of a resurgence in popularity, even with some modern reinterpretations, but they mainly stay on one level. So we wanted to approach this roulette design in a more authentic way. Not only is the roulette style more hidden on Instagram, it feels like something you discover once you’ve grown an appreciation for sector dials,” Mr Rewkiewicz describes.

Baltic founder Etienne Malec adds: “We wanted to have this play with texture and light. With a more textured surface underneath contrasting with the more polished and reflective one found on the roulette ring. This is something that we really wanted to include given the passion we share with A Collected Man for these older pieces.”

The 36mm watch has a three part case housing a Baltic’s MR01 micro-rotor movement with 42 hour power reserve.
