Cartier tells partners they’ll benefit from direct digital competition

Cartier will sell direct via Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter from this week.

Cartier has told its Specialist Retailer partners in the United States that they will benefit from the increased exposure that will come when its watches go on sale on Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter.

Around 60 Cartier models will start selling on the global luxury ecommerce platforms on August 29.

The letter, shown to WatchPro by a US-based authorised dealer, says partners will benefit from the increased exposure to 30 million unique luxury shoppers per month.

Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter are both wholly owned by Richemont, the parent organisation of Cartier.

Today, Watches-of-Switzerland.co.uk and Ernest Jones.co.uk do not sell Cartier watches online, instead asking customers to come to physical stores.

On the flip side, shops like Goldsmiths and Bucherer do provide customers an online purchasing facility in the UK.
