Watches of Switzerland is opening a specialist showroom for pre-owned watches in Reading this week.
The opening, on August 22, comes on the back of a year in which vintage watches have become a key growth area for jewellers and specialist watch retailers thanks to increasing demand that is driving up prices.
“Any pre-owned watch over 20 years old cannot fail to hold its value much better pro rata than anything else in the marketplace today,” says Owen Sheridan, who will curate the collection in Reading for Watches of Switzerland.
“The older the watch is, the more unique the piece is. The chances of you ever coming across anyone with exactly the same watch on is virtually nil. As well as supplying an increasingly knowledgeable public with mint condition pre-owned watches, we have been developing a bespoke service, bringing one-off watches to customers,” he adds.
Watches of Switzerland Pre-Owned will become a separate division and brand for parent group Aurum Holdings; joining the chain of Watches of Switzerland boutiques and Goldsmiths and Mappin & Webb stores.
