Tudor reveals Ranger collection 70 years to the day after British expedition to North Greenland set sail

Tudor has introduced a modern day explorer watch in homage to a British Expedition to North Greenland in 1952 that used Tudor Prince timekeepers as part of their vital equipment in some of the most hostile conditions on earth.

The Tudor Ranger watches were given their world-wide launch at Tobacco Dock in London, where the 13 month expedition to the Arctic set sail precisely 70 years ago.

J.D. Walker, captain in the British Royal Engineers reported from the 1952-53 expedition that the Tudor Prince watches maintained “remarkable accuracy”, and the extreme conditions experienced on the voyage provided lessons for Tudor that have improved the reliability and indestructibility of their watches ever since.

Almost all of the watches from the expedition were lost over the decades, but one was discovered when a member of the team, in his nineties at the time, took a watch that he found at the back of his kitchen draw into Rolex to see if it could be serviced.

The historic watch was verified by Tudor and matched to archive documents from the North Greenland expedition.

Tudor told the story to assembled retail partners and press at an event in London to launch the 2022 Ranger watch.

Ranger is a modern day explorer that comes in a 39mm steel case housing a COSC-certified MT5402 manufacture movement.

The 100 meter water resistant watch comes with a five year guarantee.
