Tissot builds on success of sporty PRX with new sizes, colours and styles

The version that has watch geeks in a spin is the PRX Automatic Chronograph, slightly larger than the 3-hander at 42mm, powered by a Valjoux A05.H31 calibre with 60 hour power reserve.

Tissot hit a sweet spot with the introduction of its sporty steel on steel PRX last year.

What’s not to like? Steel sports watches with a retro vibe were (and remain) on fire.

Watches with integrated steel bracelets are bang on trend.

A generation whose first wristwear has been an Apple Watch were maturing in their taste.

And Instagram has been full of advice and images promoting the joy of mechanical Swiss watches.

Of course, punters first experience of Swiss mechanical watches is likely to be a wrist roll of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or Rolex Oyster Perpetual that they cannot buy, even if they had the money, but a click or two away and Tissot’s T-Sport PRX is lurking.

It is Swiss-made, has a fantastic mechanical movement, the Powermatic 80 with anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring and 80-hour power reserve, and is offered in suite of styles and colours for every taste.

Building on the momentum of last year’s launch, Tissot has added new colours, sizes and features to its 2022 line up.

There are fresh automatics with gold bezels, a high-end automatic chronograph, and a new expression of the design in a 35mm case, directly inspired by the 1978 original.

Headlining the 2022 family are two 40mm versions of the PRX Automatic in satin-finished steel cases with 18ct solid rose gold fluted bezels.

There is a choice of brown or blue sunray dial, both priced at £1,600.

Smaller quartz-based 35mm versions come in range of colours: silver, blue, green or light blue. Plus there is a yellow-gold-PVD-plated piece with a gold-coloured dial.

Raw steel version retail for £295 while the golden piece is £375.

The watch that has watch geeks in a spin is the PRX Automatic Chronograph, slightly larger than the 3-hander at 42mm, powered by a Valjoux A05.H31 calibre with 60 hour power reserve, and designed with a reverse panda dial.

Both models are priced at an irresistible £1,500.
