It is the 60th anniversary of TAG Heuer’s iconic racing chronograph, the Carrera, and we can expect a slew of new models to launch at this year’s Watches and Wonders in March.
For now, the brand used LVMH Watch Week to present a limited edition anniversary piece in the style of the Heuer Carrera 2447 SN, which was one of Heuer’s greatest hits in the late 1960s.
The colourway of three black subdials in a silver sunray-brushed dial comes straight from that period.
Collectors may particularly like the use of the Heuer logo rather than the usual TAG Heuer.
The steel watch is smaller than recent Carreras, but 3mm larger than the 2447 SN at 39mm.
It houses a modern Heuer 02 automatic movement with 80 hour power reserve.
Only 600 are being made, priced at £6,100.
They went on sale last week but TAG Heuer’s own ecommerce site currently says they are currently out of stock, suggesting a welcome sell-out at the start of the year for the brand and a great way to kick off the anniversary of Carrera.
