If a vote had gone a different way within the design team of the fledgling Swatch in 1982, the company would have launched with square watches instead of the chosen round.
The rest, as they say, is history.
But what if the vote had gone the other way?
Swatch’s current designers decided to see what might have happened with a range of square watches in the company’s modern bioceramic material.
The result is the What If collection.
Four colours are in the launch family, all in 33mm square cases with dials in matte gray, green, beige, and black displaying time, day and date.
They are on sale from this week for £71.
