Swatch Group’s Breguet sets new price record on Richemont-owned Watchfinder

$850,000 Breguet 5349 Double Tourbillon turns up on Richemont’s pre-owned watch trading site.

Watchfinder is promoting a diamond-encrusted Breguet 5349 Double Tourbillon on its site that would have cost $850,000 new.

The record-breaking price is made more remarkable because Breguet is owned by Swatch Group, yet it is the Richemont-owned Watchfinder that will profit from the sale.

Richemont’s pre-owned platform making money from rival brands is nothing new. There are 958 Rolex watches listed on the site today, 638 TAG Heuers and 602 Breitlings.

Richemont’s biggest brands, Cartier, IWC and Panerai, have 923 watches listed with Watchfinder between them.

The Breguet 5349 Double Tourbillon is described by Watchfinder as a “hulking mass of platinum and diamonds, with a 50mm wide, 18.65mm thick case”.

It has 42 diamonds in the bezel, 33 in the case, 20 in the crown and 36 in the belt buckle clasp — a total of 163 diamonds totalling 30 carats.

The watch’s dial is both guillochéd and enamelled with a transparent blue glaze.
