Iconic Italian watchmaker Squale is introducing a titanium version of its Master Marina Militare dive watch carrying the insignia of the Comsubin, an elite department of the Italian Navy specialised in complex underwater operations, on its dial.
The Master x Palombari del Comsubin (Palombaro is Italian for diver) will be presented to UK watch collectors at this year’s WatchPro Salon, which returns for a third year to The Londoner Hotel on Leicester Square from November 10 to 11.
It is a titanium version of the Squale Master, first launched back in the 1960s, and recently revived as the Master Marina Militare in 2022.
Only 500 are being made, with only 420 available for the public to buy because the first 80 are already reserved for operational use by the Comsubin divers themselves.
Those divers were closely involved in the creation of the timepiece, which is made entirely of light and tough Grade 5 titanium and has a helium escape valve that helps with its deep sea water resistance of 1,200 metres.
The watch has a deep blue dial with the Comsubin logo at 6 o’clock, and is framed by a blue brushed ceramic bezel.
The colour is based on the uniform of the Combusin, which is designed to be camouflaged underwater.
These colours are also used for a camouflage-coated Comsubin leather strap that is supplied with the watch.
It also comes with a durable black rubber tropic strap as standard.
The 41.65mm case that stands 16.15mm tall on the wrist. It houses a Sellita SW 200-1 Elaboré automatic three-hand movement with date.
It will be on show at WatchPro Salon and is on sale now for £1,690.
