Squale refloats partnership with Italian Navy for 1,200 metre dive watch

Squale has only five retail partners in the United States today, but if the Swiss watchmaker’s success in Europe is a guide, the number of doors is likely to mushroom in the coming years.

Squale, which is making its debut at this year’s WATCHPRO Salon in November, is a Swiss watchmaker with a fascinating history thanks to a connection to the Italian Navy that goes back to the 1980s when Squale became the official watch supplier to the La Spezia Scuba Diving Group.

Forty years on from that collaboration, the Italian Navy and Squale have renewed their partnership, this time in the form of a 300 piece limited edition watch made with input by the navy, particularly when it comes to indestructibility and reliability.

The Squale Master Marina Militare is water resistant to 1,200 metres, thanks to a re-engineering with a helium valve and the addition of a thicker sapphire crystal.

The world famous submarine and diving equipment business Drass Galeazzi company carried out the water resistant tests in their laboratories and certified the resistance up to 120 ATM.
