Rolex and TAG Heuer backstage and centre stage at the Oscars

Ryan Gosling steals the show with a performance of I'm Just Ken from Barbie wearing a TAG Heuer Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde.

Oppenheimer was the big winner at last night’s Oscars with its Barbenheimer portmanteau partner, largely overlooked again for the gongs.

However, the showstopping performance of the night came from Ryan Gosling when he brought the house down singing the hit I’m Just Ken from the musical.

Mr Gosling, a brand ambassador for TAG Heuer, had the presence of mind to keep his left wrist on show to reveal the watchmaker’s Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde worn over a pink leather glove.

The 36mm watch has a white gold case and dial decorated with 2.9 carats of lab-grown diamonds and was worn by the star throughout the evening and into the night as the after party tour began.

Ahead of his performance, Mr Gosling would have had access to the backstage green room, which was once again sponsored by Rolex.

This year Rolex chose to decorate the space as a tribute to nature. “The concept integrates essential elements from nature – organic structures and chlorophyll – and aims to create harmony between them through a chromatic universe. The shapes within this vegetal universe recall details such as the fluting on watch bezels and the brushed metal surfaces of watch dials, transmitting their luminous vibrations,” Rolex describes.

Hollywood stars relaxing, or hyperventilating, in the room could enjoy a presentation of Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 in 18ct Everose gold with a slate-coloured dial.
