If you are wallowing on a waiting list for the Tudor Black Bay S&G, your head might be turned by a limited edition Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax from Raymond Weil.
The on-trend colour combination of black and bronze is a point of difference to Tudor’s black and gold chronograph.
Raymond Weil has chosen the styling to highlight a connection to a unique motorbike designed by customization specialist Meister Engineering in Geneva on behalf of the watchmaker.
The motorbike has the Raymond Weil logo in rose gold foil on its fuel tank.
This provided the inspiration for the texture of the 43.5mm bronze case and the two counters at 6 and 9 o’clock on the dial.
The watch also picks up the bike’s graduated paint for its black smoked dial that is lighter in the centre and darkens to black where it meets a bronze pulsometer track.
Framing the dial is a black tachymeter bezel.
The 300 piece limited edition comes in a 43.5mm bronze case that will patinate with exposure to the air and moisture.
It houses a Calibre RW5030 automatic chronograph movement, which is visible via the exhibition caseback.
Worn on a brown calf leather strap with a bronze folding clasp, the 100 metre water resistant watch is selling for £3,495.
A stainless steel version with titanium PVD and bronze case retails for £2,995, almost three grand less than the Tudor Black Bay S&G.
