David M Robinson (DMR) had the best year in its history in the 12 months to March 2022 as pent up demand stoked sales.
Turnover increased to £49 million, up 58% from the lock down-affected prior year, but also more than 50% higher than its previous best year in 2019-20, when sales reached £32.3 million.
Operating profit reached an all time record £6.4 million for the latest financial year, double the previous best return of £3.2 million in 2020-21.
DMR has been upgrading and expanding its UK-wide network of stores over recent years, and trimming the number of brands it offers in its showrooms.
The retailer opened its first Omega Boutique in its home city of Liverpool in October last year.
The 2,000 square foot Omega store is a short walk from DMR’s flagship showroom on South John Street, which has also been refurbished.
DMR’s flagship in Manchester was fully reopened after a major upgrade in 2019 and the business has just completed another expansion and refurbishment to its showroom in Canary Wharf, London.
Across the network of four multibrands and an Omega boutique, DMR only stocks six watch brands: Rolex, Patek Philippe, Omega, IWC, TAG Heuer and Tudor.
The business also has its own high end, in-house designed range of diamond jewellery.
