Paul Smith pops up at the new Dover Street Market

As Dover Street Market relocates to a new home in London’s Haymarket, British designer Paul Smith has installed a recreation of his first ever shop in the basement area.

Within the 31,000 square feet of floor space available in the new Dover Street Market, each label was given the chance to set up its own personalised concession.

Not wanting to be greedy, Paul Smith decided to take only a modest 3 x 3 meters – the exact dimensions of his first shop, which he opened in Nottingham in 1970.

Paul’s 3 x 3 cube will be filled with an ever-changing selection of objects and oddities that captures this market stall aesthetic that inspired Rei Kawakubo to open the first Dover Street Market location in 2004.
