Oris expands its partnership with Lord’s and the MCC

Cricket club and Oris have a shared passion for sustainability and history.

Oris is expanding on its Official Timekeeper partnership with the home of world cricket, Lord’s, with the creation of a Father of Time limited edition watch.

It launches this week as a limited edition of 1,926 numbered pieces.

Oris and the MCC, which owns Lord’s, are also working together on a programme of community events aimed at highlighting the shared commitment of the cricket club and watchmaker to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

“One of the values of the MCC that I know we share with Oris is our commitment to sustainability, and, specifically to us, to protect the long-term future of Lord’s and the game. Cricket is so exposed to the effects of climate change that we simply have to act now to protect it. We also have the responsibility to ensure that our home, Lord’s, is as environmentally friendly and sustainable as it possibly can be,” says Guy Lavender, MCC chief executive and secretary.

For those with less than an obsessive relationship with cricket, Father Time is the name associated with a clock and weather vane at Lord’s.

Its timekeeping and weather forecasting duties have been somewhat overtaken in our world of modern technology, but that is true of almost everything from the analogue era, including Swiss mechanical watches.

The new Oris watch is a version of its Big Crown Pointer Date, presented in a bronze 40mm case with the option of a matching integrated bronze bracelet or a light brown leather strap made from sustainably sourced deer leather.

It has a closed steel case back engraved with an image of Father Time, and is powered by Oris’s automatic Calibre 754.
