Watch brands like to celebrate anniversaries every five or ten years.
But Oris sees things differently, and likes to mark the date of its foundation, June 1, every year with a limited edition watch that has become known as the Hölstein collection; named after the location of its headquarters and factory in the Jura mountains since 1905.
This year’s boutique-only Hölstein Limited Edition is a purple-dialled version of its bestselling Aquis diver’s watch.
Only 250 are being made of the watch, which is also uniquely lacking a date from its dial.
It uses a no-date variation of Oris’s in-house Calibre 400, with its five-day power reserve, and comes with a 10 year warranty.
Oris is once again showing its playful side (notably demonstrated in the creation of its Pro Pilot Kermit watch this year) by illustrating the case back of the Hölstein Edition Aquis with the Oris Bear in his scuba gear.
“We take watchmaking seriously and we’re proud to do great work that people love, but we wear it lightly. Have fun. Enjoy life. That’s who we are. And that’s the Hölstein Edition 2023,” says Oris CEO Rolf Studer.
The watch is on sale now for £3,300.
