The watch industry awoke today to the sad news of the passing of Jason Newman, export director of the Festina Group.
Jason Newman, Export Director of the Festina Group, has passed away in Barcelona at the age of 52. Miguel RodrÃguez DomÃnguez, the group president, was deeply saddened by the loss of his veteran and close collaborator.
This outstanding professional was highly regarded and was greatly loved and appreciated within the watch industry for his extraordinary humanity.
He spent almost his entire career with the independent watchmaking group, with which he was associated for more than 25 years.
His professional career was characterized by perfect manners, great negotiating skills and an extraordinary sense of humour, which he also used with ease in any of the six languages he spoke.
All this, together with his physical presence, which conveyed an unquestionable serenity and confidence, made him seem more like a diplomat than a businessman.
He was a key player, alongside Manon Colombies, in the development of the group’s exports to more than 100 countries worldwide.
On a personal level, he leaves a void that is impossible to replace. The feeling of sadness is unanimous among all his colleagues and clients because Jason Newman was, above all, a beautiful person, with an outstanding human touch that made him very dear to all those who had the privilege of interacting with him.
His loss leaves a deep void in the heart of the watch industry that no one will ever be able to fill.
“All of us who were able to work and live alongside him had the immense fortune of having spent part of our lives alongside a great professional, but above all an excellent person. His humanity, his sense of humour, his affection, accompanied us during these years and for this reason, from this place of enormous sadness, we give thanks for having had the gift of his company.
